Brian Tkachuk  - President/Director
After high school, Brian started a trucking company called Lac La Biche Cement, servicing the oilfield needs for cementing powder. Before the days of bulk cement powder trailers, Brian used the box of gravel trucks, loading and unloading them by hand, then sometimes trucking all night with his business partner Dwayne Young. Alberta was having a hard time with the recession and A&T was feeling it just like everyone else, but that didn’t stop Brian from joining his father in 1977 and together they brought A&T Construction to heights of success for years to come. They engaged in not only ready-mix concrete but also oilfield hauling, rock crushing, sand screening and long gravel hauling. They were growing the community from its base of operations in downtown Lac La Biche with only 5 mixer trucks 2 gravel trucks and a stationary batch plant.

Brian brought home his first ready mix batch plant in 1980, personally trucking it all the way home from Brownwood Texas. The operation became much more efficient with its inclusion and took the production rate to new heights allowing them to pour hundreds of meters a day with ease for large projects like water treatment plants, arenas and airport runways. Brian bought out his father Stanley and became the business president in 1992. After decades of riding the highs and lows of the Alberta market with its booms and busts, Brian tried experimenting in early 2000 with portable batching operations at Cenovus Energy in Conklin. He quickly learned that this was not the right fit for his company and that creating a better delivery system with strategically placed batch plants would be the future.

After putting a lifetime in the business from his home of Lac La Biche and the oilfield in the Conklin area, Brian decided it was time to step out of downtown Lac La Biche. In 2008 he boosted the plant size and relocated the old plant to Conklin. He tripled home base operations with the new plant and the old plant in a very central Conklin location area. This allows A&T Construction to begin a pour with trucks from home, unload at site, and then relay back and forth from the jobsite to the Conklin batch plant until the work is finished for the day and everyone comes home. This operation allows for most employees to avoid having to spend a night in a camp, and keeps them at home with their families while keeping the cost of concrete down.

Wade Tkachuk - Vice President / Director / Quality Control.
Growing up, Wade would help out when he could by sweeping shop floors while he watched the trucks go back and forth. He knew without a doubt that he wanted to continue on with his family’s legacy. At the age of 18, he started as a grease monkey in the shop but quickly picked up the knack for operating the trucks, and he began learning the batching operations as well. By the end of the summer, he was handling small jobs alone, running the plant, batching up his truck and relaying it from site.

In 2007, after a few years of batching concrete and hauling it in all sorts of conditions, Wade joined his father and became a part owner of the company to make A&T Construction a 3rd generation owned company. After a decade in the industry Wade is now looking after quotes, training the batch men that handle the day to day concrete and providing quality control on the critical jobs.

Elaine Tkachuk - Chief Financial Officer
Brian Tkachuk and Elaine Inkster were childhood sweethearts. Elaine had always been close to the Tkachuk family and it wasn’t long before she found herself at the front desk putting in long hours booking orders and handling the finances. Brian and Elaine were married in 1982 and have been riding the highs and lows of the concrete ready-mix industry together. As the industry grew and changed, she also found herself involved in A&T’s safety program as that became more important to the industry. Dealing with our insurance brokers and benefits packages was spearheaded by Elaine as well. and A&T owes it all to her hard work and efforts.
